Hi,
I am Olesia - the founder of Rainbow On The Wood store and the artist. I live in the picturesque village Petrykivka in Ukraine close to nature and hand-paint my creations with originating from my village world-known Petrykivka painting. It is the art technique included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World by UNESCO.
Painting tradition is passed down from generation to generation in my family. I started painting when I was a little child. Now my artworks are shown on the international and Ukrainian exhibitions.
With the time going I realized that the way I can make the world a better place - is to help people feel more comfortable in their everyday life by giving the artistic value and sense to the plain ordinary things we use while living our lives. This way my hobby grew into my business of life – Rainbow On The Wood.
What is the process of creating items?
Firstly the piece is carved from natural wood. We elaborate its form and size to be functional and sophisticatedly looking at the same time. Then we thoroughly polish the wooden surface to prepare it for painting. The designs we create on our products are unique and one of a kind – they go from the soul of the artist. Wooden items are my favorite things to paint, they help me feel the unity with nature. Also wood always has different patterns (you can never find 2 similar wooden items). And that is a wiggle room for my fantasy :)
